Old Town – Orono YMCA skatepark

Currently the only skatepark in all of Penobscot county. This is our home in the winter and for our regular meetings (2nd and fourth Thursdays of each Month at 5:30 Pm).

The Y offers summer skate camps, skate classes as well as a whole slew of other great recreational options. Over 3600 waivers signed skate waivers give us a great idea how many people are skating in the greater Bangor area.

Bangor slab park (building)

This is a park in process. Relocated after last summers sale of the old park many of the old elements have been relocated to this concrete slab. The BBSA has received permission to build DIY (do it yourself) elements on this site to create a sum greater than it’s parts. We host volunteer build days on the third Sunday of every Month. We are also hoping to get a skatepark builder involved to help make sure this park creates me

Marsh Island Regional Skatepark (planning)

This park will be a collaboration between the towns of Old Town, Orono and the class of 2013 at the University of Maine in Orono. We are currently working in conjunction with the UMaine class of 2013 on planning, design and management of this park.

The proposed park will be a nearly 4000 sq ft. concrete park located adjacent to the hilltop parking lot near the University’s Recreation Center.
